There are many types of building sealants, including silicone, polyurethane, polysulfide, acrylic, butyl, asphalt and oil-based resin modified products. At present, the building sealant used in China is mainly silicone, polysulfide, polyurethane three room temperature curing elastic sealant, and the most widely used is silicone sealant.

Most of the building sealant belongs to synthetic adhesive, its main body is polymer, its properties can be divided into three categories; Nature of body, nature of process, nature of use (product performance)

Classification by Use

Acid glass glue  Suitable for sealing, plugging and waterproof purposes, indoor and outdoor both suitable (indoor effect is better), anti-seepage and anti-leakage effect is remarkable.

Neutral weather resistant glue  Suitable for weatherproof sealing of all kinds of curtain wall, especially recommended for weatherproof sealing of glass curtain wall, aluminum-plastic panel curtain wall and stone dry hanging.

Silicone structural adhesive  It is mainly used for structural or non-structural bonding assembly between metal and glass curtain walls. It can directly connect the glass and the surface of the metal component to form a single assembly component, which meets the design requirements of the curtain wall with full or semi-hidden frame. Structural bonding seal of insulating glass.

Matters Needing Attention

1, thoroughly remove all loose particles and dust, ensure that the construction surface is clean, dry, and no grease and such as release agent, curing film, hydrophobic agent surface dirt.

2, the construction should be in a clean environment with a temperature of 4~40℃ and a relative humidity of 40%~80%, and the construction should be stopped in rain and snow weather.

3. In order to prevent the sealing adhesive from being damaged when the joint expands, the joint should be stuffed with a suitable backing material, and the width of the backing material should be greater than 25% of the joint width to control the sizing thickness of the sealant.

4. A bevel should be cut at the outer mouth of the sealing paste jar, and then a squeeze gun should be installed to squeeze the sealing paste into the joint pressure surface, and the thickness and width of the sealing paste should be uniform, in line with the sealing requirements.

5. The sealant is not fully cured within 48 hours after sizing, and the sealing joint is not allowed to have a large displacement, otherwise it will affect the sealing effect.
